Popular Movie Costumes for 2017

It never fails that as Halloween approaches kids and adults start thinking about what costumes they will wear. Sometimes, they even choose more than one because they have more than one event to attend, and it’s just plain fun to put on a costume and have a blast with friends. Whether you’re dressing up to celebrate at work, school, church, a community youth group or some parties with friends and family, a lot of thought goes into choosing what character you want to be.

Kids & Halloween

At the first sight of costumes showing up in stores, kids start bugging their parents about what character they want to dress up as. Some may choose a Power Ranger or a Disney princess, and oftentimes the costumes that become popular are based on the fabulous superheroes in the latest blockbuster movies.

Kids want to feel larger-than-life just like their heroes on the big screen. When at last their costumes are purchased, kids really start getting anxious, and the countdown to Halloween begins. Of course, they take every opportunity to put on their Batman or Wonder Woman costumes to show their grandparents, aunts and uncles, and anyone else who’s around. Next, they get to wear their costumes to school and see what their friends are wearing. But the event every kid is eager for comes on the night of October 31.

As the sun begins to go down, neighborhoods are buzzing with excitement. Kids are ready to burst out the doors onto the streets to take in a big haul of sweet treats and show off their costumes. You’ll see a tough, little Spider-Man and some Transformers who are thrilled to be soaking in all the attention.

Adult Halloween & Cosplay Costumes

For adults, the costume options and opportunities to wear them have multiplied over recent years with an explosion of blockbuster superhero movies and the ever-increasing popularity of cosplay, the combination of costume and play. Cosplay costumes are on vivid display at various fan conventions across Asia and the Western world, including San Diego Comic-Con, New York Comic Con and Los Angeles’ Anime Expo. Most of the cosplay costumes are characters from movies, TV series, comic books, anime and manga. At these events, you’ll see Mystique, Wolverine and Cyclops from X-Men; you might bump into Optimus Prime or rub shoulders with Catwoman and Spock.

When it comes to wearing Halloween costumes at work, people seem to really let their hair down and have a good time. Wonder Woman is leading a team meeting in the conference room, and the shy guy who works in Accounting is dressed as Superman and strutting around like he owns the place. Wearing costumes makes everyone smile, loosen up and have fun. Then come the work parties, and everyone is laughing, socializing and commenting on all the costumes. You might even win a prize for Best Costume, so make sure you have a good one.

Popular Movie Costumes for 2017

The X-Men films have provided great characters to imitate, and perhaps the most popular character of all is Wolverine. In March of 2017, Logan was released in theaters across America, and the story of Wolverine (James “Logan” Howlett) continued. Other blockbuster films with amazing characters in 2017 are Wonder Woman, Transformers: The Last Knight, Spider-Man: Homecoming and Thor: Ragnarok, and with a new Batman movie slated for 2018, there will be no shortage of people looking for movie character costumes.

This Halloween, have a great time searching for superhero costumes for you and the kids. Enjoy all the great movies and fantastic characters, and when October 31 comes, have fun dressing up and eating tons of candy.
